Privacy Policy for JLPT Vocab Master
Last Updated: October 6, 2026 (4.10.0)
JLPT Vocab Master (shown on your device as “JLPT Vocab”) is a Japanese vocabulary flashcard app made by PrSeo7, an independent developer. This page explains what data the App handles, why, and what you can do about it. PrSeo7 is the data controller for the processing described here; contact: hello.prseo7@gmail.com.
The short version
- The App has no user accounts. It never asks for your name, e-mail address or any other personal detail.
- Your learning progress and settings stay on your device. We run no server and receive no copy of them.
- The App uses Google’s Firebase for usage analytics and crash reports, and, for ads in the free version only, Unity’s ad networks Unity Ads and ironSource Ads through Unity LevelPlay. Analytics and crash data go from your device straight to Google; advertising data goes straight to Unity.
- Because we hold no identifier for you, we cannot look up or delete an individual’s analytics or crash records. They expire automatically, and uninstalling the App stops all collection.
- Buying Premium (a one-time purchase, no subscription) removes ads and all advertising data collection.
What the App collects
Usage analytics (Firebase Analytics, all users)
- Device model and operating system version
- A Firebase installation identifier that Google assigns to this installation (it changes if you reinstall); on iOS also Apple’s identifier for vendors (IDFV), which is shared by all PrSeo7 apps on your device. On Android the Android ID is not collected
- App opens and session length (Firebase’s standard events), Premium purchase or restore events (which product, whether it succeeded, and for a completed purchase its price and currency), when you open the Study Calendar, the number of days on which you have studied, and, in the free version, whether banner ads loaded and were shown (with the screen and the banner size only). The App sends no record of which words you study or how you answer
- Approximate location at country/region level, which Google derives from a masked IP address. This applies to all users, including Premium. The App requests no location permission and never uses your device’s location services
- Firebase Analytics does not collect the Android advertising ID. On iOS the advertising identifier is available to Google only if you allowed tracking in the iOS tracking prompt
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics, all users)
- Crash logs and stack traces, the device state at the time of the crash, and an installation identifier used to count affected devices. No user identifier is attached
Advertising (Unity Ads and ironSource Ads, through Unity LevelPlay; free version only)
- The device advertising ID (on iOS only if you allowed tracking for the App; on Android according to your device’s ad settings, and Unity chooses ads without it if you chose non-personalized ads), your IP address (Unity may estimate an approximate location from it), device information, which ads were shown or tapped, and diagnostic data about the ad software
- Advertising data is collected only while ads are shown, never for Premium users, and starting from the first screen that shows an ad once you have stayed on it for a second, not at launch. Test copies of the App (for example on Google Play’s pre-launch test devices, or installed on Android from outside the Play Store) show no ads
- On iOS, ad-driven installs may be attributed through Apple’s SKAdNetwork, which does not identify you. On Android 13 and later, the App’s ad and analytics software may use Android’s Privacy Sandbox advertising features (ad topics and attribution), which are controlled in your device’s Privacy settings
Fonts
- When the App’s language is Korean or Simplified Chinese, it downloads the matching display font from Google Fonts the first time it is needed, so your IP address reaches Google’s font servers. The Japanese font is bundled with the App
On your device only
- Words you mark as familiar, your review schedule and results, streaks, starred words, your language, theme, reminder and haptics settings, and your ad choice. This data is stored in the App’s own storage on your device; it is included in your device’s normal system backups (iCloud or Google backup) if you have those turned on. Under Settings > Backup & Restore, “Export” writes it to a file that you choose where to send and “Import” reads such a file back. Backups contain only learning progress, no identifiers
Purchases
- The Premium purchase is processed by Apple or Google Play. We never see your payment details; the App only learns whether Premium is owned
Reminders
- If you turn on the “Study Reminder”, the App schedules one local notification per day on your device at the time you choose. There is no push server and nothing is sent anywhere. Notification permission is requested only when you turn reminders on

Who receives data
Only these companies receive data from the App, each bound to protect it at least as well as this policy says:
- Google LLC (Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, Google Fonts): https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Unity Technologies (Unity Ads, ironSource Ads, Unity LevelPlay; free version only), which decides itself how it uses advertising data and may share it with its affiliates and ad partners as its policy describes: https://unity.com/legal/game-player-and-app-user-privacy-policy
- Apple and Google Play for the Premium purchase: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ and https://policies.google.com/privacy
Google and Unity process this data in the United States and other countries. For users in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (https://policies.google.com/privacy/frameworks); Unity relies on the Standard Contractual Clauses and on adequacy decisions. No data is transferred to us.
Your choices
- Ad consent (everyone): before the first ad, the App asks how ads are chosen. On iOS, an information screen with a “Continue” button is followed by the iOS tracking prompt (unless you already answered it): “Allow” means personalized ads, “Ask App Not to Track” means non-personalized ads; change it at any time in iOS Settings > JLPT Vocab > “Allow Tracking” (the App’s Settings > Privacy > “Ad Privacy Settings” shows the current state, “Personalized ads: allowed” or “Personalized ads: not allowed”, and an “Open Settings” button that links there). On Android, a sheet titled “Ads in the free version” asks you to choose between “Personalized ads” and “Non-personalized ads”; change it under Settings > Privacy > “Ad Privacy Settings”. Your answer is passed to Unity
- Inside an ad: Unity’s Data Privacy icon lets you opt out of personalized ads with Unity directly
- Android: your device’s ad settings (for example Settings > Google > Ads) let you delete your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization
- Premium: removes ads and all advertising data collection
- Uninstall: deletes everything stored on your device and stops all collection
- Usage analytics cannot be switched off inside the App; it contains no advertising identifier unless you allowed tracking, and it is not used for advertising
How long data is kept
- On-device data: until you uninstall the App
- Firebase Analytics: up to 14 months, then deleted automatically
- Firebase Crashlytics: 90 days, then deleted automatically
- Unity Ads: app interaction data tied to an installation identifier up to 12 months; transaction records up to 180 days; other advertising data for as long as Unity needs it for the purposes in its policy (https://unity.com/legal/game-player-and-app-user-privacy-policy)
- Ad data collected by Google AdMob in versions before 4.10.0: under Google’s advertising retention rules (IP addresses in ad logs anonymized after 9 months, identifiers after 18 months; https://policies.google.com/technologies/retention)
- Google Fonts downloads (Korean or Chinese interface only): under the same Google server-log retention rules
We cannot delete individual analytics or crash records on request: the App has no accounts, so we have no way to find the records that belong to you. That data is not linked to your identity and expires as listed above.
Your rights
Everyone: ask us what the App collects (this page is the complete answer), opt out of personalized ads as described above, and delete your on-device data by uninstalling.
EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR): you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and to withdraw consent at any time. For the analytics and crash data we cannot identify you, so access, rectification, erasure and portability cannot be fulfilled for it (GDPR Article 11); you can still withdraw ad consent (in iOS Settings, or in the App on Android), stop all processing by uninstalling, and exercise rights over advertising data through Unity (https://unity.com/legal/game-player-and-app-user-privacy-policy). You may lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (EU list: https://www.edpb.europa.eu/about-edpb/about-edpb/members_en; UK: https://ico.org.uk; Switzerland: https://www.edoeb.admin.ch). We would appreciate the chance to help first.
California: we do not sell personal information. If passing the advertising identifier to Unity for personalized ads counts as “sharing”, you can opt out by not allowing tracking on iOS, by choosing “Non-personalized ads” on Android, by buying Premium, or by uninstalling the App. You may also ask to know, correct or delete personal information and will not be discriminated against for asking; the same identification limit applies. Contact us by e-mail.
Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and are concerned, uninstall the App; no individual record exists that we could look up or delete.
Premium
Premium is a one-time, non-consumable purchase: no subscription, no trial, no recurring charge. It removes all banner ads and all advertising data collection, and unlocks every example audio, starring, and familiar-word management for all word groups. Your premium status is stored on your device and verified with the store; if the store cannot confirm it (for example offline), Premium is kept for a 7-day grace period. “Restore Purchase” in Settings recognizes a purchase made on another device or before a reinstall.
Security
Data sent to Google and Unity travels over HTTPS/TLS. On-device data is protected by your device’s own security.
About this policy
This page describes what happens when you use the App; it is not a request for consent, and using the App is not treated as consent. Where consent is needed (personalized ads, asked of everyone using the free version; tracking on iOS), the App asks you separately and you can withdraw at any time. We may update this page; the date at the top changes when we do. The current version is always reachable inside the App under Settings > Privacy > “Privacy Policy”.

Change history
- October 6, 2026 (4.10.0): Ads are now served by Unity’s networks Unity Ads and ironSource Ads, mediated by Unity LevelPlay, instead of Google AdMob. Before the first ad the App asks every user of the free version: on iOS an information screen followed by the iOS tracking prompt, on Android a choice between personalized and non-personalized ads. The App also records three banner events (loaded, failed, shown) that carry only the screen and the ad size and no longer lets Firebase Analytics collect the Android ID
- September 18, 2026: Study Calendar added. When you open it, analytics also receives the number of days on which you have studied (a single count)
- September 5, 2026: Rewritten in plain language. Corrections: Meta Audience Network removed (the App no longer includes it); analytics described as Firebase’s standard events plus purchase events, not “which screens you visit” or “anonymous”; no deletion-on-request claim; IP-based approximate location applies to all users; Simplified Chinese listed; on-device storage, system backups, backup export and import, Google Fonts downloads, the iOS identifier for vendors, and crash-report details disclosed; retention periods, legal bases, complaint right, controller and transfer details added; “use = consent” clause removed; children’s section states the App is not directed to children under 13 (16 in the EEA); the policy is now linked from inside the App
- July 26, 2026: Advertising consent (UMP/ATT), Meta mediation, reminders, one-time Premium
- September 13, 2025: Revision
- September 11, 2025: First published
